2004 SARA / UK Radio Astronomy Conference
25,26 September 2004

The Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers is holding a 2-day event at Jodrell Bank at the end of September. Registration is 10 British pounds per person, payable on arrival. Please visit the anouncement page here for full details on accommodation and travel. This should be well worth it. There is even the possibility of observation sessions with the 13m dish! Below is an extract from the anouncement on the Jodrell Bank website:

In our continuing effort to educate and make Radio Astronomy more accessible, SARA (the Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers) is organising this 2-day event to be hosted by the Jodrell Bank Observatory in the United Kingdom. Jodrell Bank is the astronomy research centre of the University of Manchester and hosts the UK's National Facility for Radio Astronomy.

The conference will include the following:

  • Member Paper & Research Presentations in the Jodrell Bank Lecture Room (can seat up to 50 and has facilities including OHP, laptop + data projector, TV/video, slide projector and also a lovely view of the Lovell Telescope!)
  • Guided tour of the Observatory
  • Observing session on 7/13-metre telescope (to be confirmed)
  • Refreshments (tea/coffee/juice + biscuits)
  • Midday meal (self-paid)
  • Evening meal (self-paid)

A date of 19 - 21 June 2005 has been set for next year's SARA Conference. More details later.
