GROTE REBER PASSES AWAY
Grote Reber passed away on 20 December 2002. He was the ultimate "professional amateur", funding all his early work himself, including the building of his 31ft dish. Originally, Reber built all his equipment himself. The dish and the receivers used with it, was the first equipment built with the sole purpose of doing radio astronomy. Although an Electronics Engineer, he contributed to both the engineering and science of Radio Astronomy.
