There are several organisations that the Amateur
Radio Astronomer can join. If you know of any others, please let
us know and we will add them here.
The British Astronomical Association Radio Astronomy Group
This group was founded in the late fifties, following a lecture given to
the BAA by the Astronomer Royal, Sir Martin Ryle. After a few bumpy years,
things are getting off the ground. We ask all UK Amateur Radio Astronomers
to support this effort. Anyone else is, of course, also welcome! Contact details can be found
here.
European Radio Astronomy Club (ERAC)
This group was formed in 1996. It has many members throughout Europe, including
several from the UK. Membership costs 10 Euro per year. The club has a quarterly
Newsletter costing 9 Euro a copy. The newsletter is about 160 pages long.
Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers (SARA)
This is the American equivalent of ERAC and probably the most well known
and largest Amateur Radio Astronomy organization in the world. It was started
in the early eighties and has hundreds of members worldwide.
